You know when life steals your extra time, and inevitably, some of your joy is gone too? That is how I have felt a bit lately. I have been tremendously busy with work and traveling most weekends. That kind of a schedule does not leave time for painting! Today I took the dogs for a walk in the most beautiful springtime weather here in the Texas hill country and I just KNEW in my heart that today was a day to paint! Joy started to grow in my mind...
I am greatly inspired by our wildflowers that grow every where on the side of Texas highways and country roads! A friend of mines grandmother, Ladybird Johnson (yes, the Presidents wife) is responsible for the beautification of our countries roadsides. I think of Nicole (my friend) each spring when the wildflowers bloom! She must be so proud of her Grandmother. It is such a lovely legacy.
A simple bundle of pink flowers in a simple silver cup. I love it. I love it when life is simple because I remember to look for joy! Have a great day...

Amy Higgins Art
My paintings are full of traditions. Sterling silver and the memories held within each piece, old glass jars bring back memories of my Grandparents farm, cattle and their classic expressions, and deserts from our favorite bakery in town are just a few of my very favorite things to paint.

Creamy, yummy, colorful, fun...too bad we can't eat it! This is one of my many cupcake paintings that I have done. They sell quickly, so I made sure to photograph this one and put it up on my blog. With these paintings, I play with color. Reds and blues in unexpected places. Thanks for looking, now go raid the fridge!!!

This is a big one! 4 ft x 3 ft, oil on canvas. These two old Ball jars remind me of my grandparents farm. On the farm they had to keep things sealed...well sealed to keep the critters out! As a child, I was always frustrated and equally fascinated with Ball jars! They were so hard to open and close with my little fingers, but usually they were filled with something yummy, so the work was worth it!

Moving On
The Story
Here's the story...this is for a wonderful family with 4 children, The Storys. There are three girls and one boy. Can you see that in the painting? I am sure you do; 3 cups in sterling and 1 rattle...get it? ;) This was a commission that I loved photographing and painting. It is 18in x 18in on canvas. Oil. SOLD.
